Description
This encyclopedia brings together creative insights on the question of how place matters in Public Engagement. It is the result of the Collaborative Futures Academy (CFA) 2025, an online programme of learning and exchange for researchers and practitioners working in Public Engagement. In 2025, participants from 16 countries came together to explore how Place matters in their work.
In order to collate the emerging knowledge from the Academy and share it with the wider community, participants were invited to join a collaborative process of reflection and publication. Using design-based approaches, they responded to creative prompts and distilled their experience into encyclopedia entries. This was supported by a process of visual translation by the design team.
The encyclopedia is an experiment in knowledge integration in a field characterised by diverse expertise. It aims to make a meaningful contribution to the Public Engagement practice by addressing the theme of place in a unique and accessible way.
