Description
This is the April 2003 issue of the International Newsletter on Physics Education (ICPE). It pays tribute to George Marx, a pioneer in international physics education, highlighting his role in Danube Seminars and global initiatives. The newsletter announces the 2002 ICPE Medal recipients: Lillian McDermott for her leadership in physics education research and Tae Ryu for advancing physics education in Japan and internationally. It previews the second GIREP seminar on teacher education in Italy and addresses the looming shortage of science teachers. Practical resources include activities on pendulum energy conservation and a demonstration on infrared signals. Updates on ICPE projects and funding opportunities for women in physics are also featured.
