The contemporary organizational landscape is characterized by escalating turbulence, volatility, and uncertainty. Organizations across public, private, and nonprofit sectors face disruptions arising from digital transformation, geopolitical instability, pandemics, climate shocks, cybersecurity threats, and economic fluctuations. Consequently, organizational resilience has emerged as a fundamental capability enabling institutions to anticipate, absorb, adapt to, and transform in the face of disruption. This paper synthesizes the literature on organizational resilience, tracing its intellectual origins, theoretical foundations, determinants, and empirical applications. Drawing on systems theory, complex adaptive systems, dynamic capabilities, high reliability theory, and institutional perspectives, the article identifies four key dimensions of resilience: anticipation, absorption, adaptation, and transformation. . The paper concludes with theoretical, managerial, and policy implications and proposes avenues for future research. Keywords: Organizational resilience; Complex adaptive systems; Dynamic capabilities; Systems theory; Turbulence and uncertainty |
