Description

This dataset provides the annual number of hours with dangerous heat index (above 103°F, 39.4°C) as NetCDF files and compiled maps as PNG files.

The calculation is based on hourly CMIP6-based ISIMIP3b climate model data (GFDL-ESM4, IPSL-CM6A-LR, MPI-ESM1-2-HR, MRI-ESM2-0, UKESM1-0-LL) across the historical, ssp126, ssp370, and ssp585 experiments.

Historical data is provided from 1981-2010 in 5-year slices. Scenario data is provided from 2015-2100 in 5-year slices.

The Teddy-Toov (v1.3) is used for the temporal disaggregation of daily ISIMIP3b climate data to hourly data (Zabel and Poschlod 2023).
