DOME Registry Roadmap 2025-2026
Authors/Creators
Description
Description: This document defines the strategic roadmap for the DOME Registry for the period of October 2025 to October 2026. The DOME Registry is the flagship AI/ML resource co-developed through the ELIXIR Network, functioning as a centralised, FAIR resource for creating and sharing structured disclosures of AI/ML methods using the DOME Recommendations standard.
The roadmap details the operational plan to improve service provisioning, aiming to achieve a critical level of community acceptance and standardisation. It outlines stakeholder needs, current gaps, and specific deliverables categorised into three core task groups: Technical Framework, Community of Support, and Governance.
Key highlights of the 2025-2026 Roadmap include:
-
Technical Framework: Prioritising core stability (Node.js versioning and containerisation), scalable curation via ML/LLM support to handle increasing publication volumes, and implementing public-facing entry versioning.
-
Interoperability: Establishing bidirectional linking with key ecosystem partners, specifically Europe PMC and the BioAI Repo, to enhance publication discovery and asset tracking.
-
Metadata Standards: Reducing free text in templates through the integration of ontologies and emerging standards such as FAIR4ML and Croissant.
-
Community & Adoption: Mitigating adoption risk by engaging directly with publishers, exploring industry use cases (e.g., Open Pharma), and formalising the DOME ecosystem navigation.
-
Governance: Ensuring continued oversight through annual Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) meetings and publisher input channels.
The document also provides a risk assessment, highlighting adoption and technical risks, and outlines the resource requirements (person months) necessary to achieve these goals within the cycle.
