NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND THEIR IMPACT ON SOCIETY. INFORMATION AND DIGITAL SECURITY CONCEPTS
Authors/Creators
Description
The rapid evolution of emerging technologies is fundamentally reshaping society while simultaneously creating unprecedented challenges and opportunities in information and digital security. This study employs a systematic literature review and meta-analysis approach to examine how artificial intelligence, blockchain, quantum computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), and other cutting-edge technologies are transforming our digital landscape, with particular focus on their security implications and societal impact. Through analysis of 320 relevant sources across multiple databases and stakeholder perspectives, we identify critical security challenges including quantum threats to cryptography (severity score 9.2/10), AI-powered cyber attacks (8.7/10), and IoT vulnerabilities (8.1/10). The research reveals significant implementation gaps, with only 19.2% of organizations making meaningful progress in post-quantum cryptography adoption despite 78.4% recognizing cryptographic vulnerabilities as primary concerns. Our findings demonstrate that effective responses require integrated approaches combining technical solutions (post-quantum cryptography, explainable AI, zero-trust architectures) with robust governance frameworks and security-by-design principles. As we navigate this technological revolution, understanding the dual nature of these innovations—as both enablers of enhanced security capabilities and sources of new vulnerabilities—becomes crucial for building a secure and resilient digital future.
