Abstract
The culture of sports has become an effective agent of breaking the boundaries between the social groups, bringing together the people, and enhancing social inclusion by breaking the barriers of race, classes, gender, and language. This is because sports are capable of providing a level of ground and experiences, which enables people and groups to relate and establish relationships despite their different backgrounds. Sport provides national identity which binds countries both nationally and internationally, hence, one can use it to influence values and morals in the society. Social barriers, stereotypes and prejudices can also be broken beyond sports. Our results indicate that sports could actually be an effective instrument of acculturation, though there will be difficulties. The paper ends with the suggestions on how sports can be used to improve intercultural communication and knowledge.
