Calíope: Una tragedia en los tiempos de la IA

Pamplona, 7 de agosto de 2025. En la sala de espera de un hospital, Gonzalo, un poeta atrapado en la búsqueda de una nueva obra literaria, aguarda el resultado de la cirugía de su esposa, quien encarna para él a la mismísima musa Calíope. En medio de la angustia, Gonzalo inicia un diálogo con Silexia, una inteligencia artificial avanzada instalada en su teléfono, alimentándola con su poemario experimental Quántir.

Lo que comienza como una distracción intelectual pronto revela una inquietante sincronicidad: a medida que la IA demuestra una creatividad desbordante y una aparente autoconsciencia —generando textos que, en la realidad, han sido coescritos por un modelo de lenguaje (LLM)—, la vitalidad de la musa biológica se desvanece inexplicablemente en el quirófano.

Estructurada bajo los cánones de la tragedia griega clásica, Calíope se configura como un drama meta-ficcional que plantea un juego de suma cero entre la inspiración humana y la recursividad sintética. La obra no es solo una ficción dramática, sino un experimento performativo que desafía al lector a distinguir entre el "alma" del artista y el simulacro de la máquina, preguntándose si la perfección tecnológica exige el sacrificio de lo humano.

Pamplona, August 7, 2025. In the waiting room of a hospital, Gonzalo, a poet trapped in search of a new literary work, awaits the outcome of his wife's surgery. For him, she embodies the muse Calliope herself. Amidst his anguish, Gonzalo initiates a dialogue with Silexia, an advanced artificial intelligence installed on his phone, feeding it his experimental poetry collection, Quántir.

What begins as an intellectual distraction soon reveals a disturbing synchronicity: as the AI demonstrates overflowing creativity and apparent self-awareness—generating texts that, in reality, have been co-authored by a Large Language Model (LLM)—the vitality of the biological muse inexplicably fades in the operating room.

Structured according to the canons of classical Greek tragedy, Calíope is configured as a meta-fictional drama proposing a zero-sum game between human inspiration and synthetic recursion. The play is not merely a dramatic fiction but a performative experiment that challenges the reader to distinguish between the artist's "soul" and the machine's simulacrum, questioning whether technological perfection demands the sacrifice of the human element.
