VALUABLE Feedstock inventory and product targets

This report presents an updated block flow diagram showing the pathway for the combined production of triglyceride-rich yeast oil and chitosan from Aspergillus niger as a biomass feedstock in the VALUABLE process. Information for feedstock characterization has been gathered from all project partners individually for each process step. In addition to the Aspergillus niger feedstock, two different enzyme cocktails, sodium hydroxide, acetic acid, water, fermentation medium and oxygen were also mapped as the main raw materials required for the mentioned conversion process.
The product targets which are aimed for in the VALUABLE project are 9,000 ton/year for the yeast oil and 1,500 ton/year for chitosan production.
The current description of the process reflects the technical status of the project to date. Minor changes to individual raw materials and concentrations are expected in the course of the project timeline.
