Description
This paper presents the results of a study of macrofungi conducted in the forests of Ojców National Park (ONP) in 2024. Between August and November, a total of 334 species of macrofungi were recorded at 466 sites, including 317 species of basidiomycetes (Basidiomycota) and 17 species of ascomycetes (Ascomycota). Among them, 85 represent particularly valuable taxa: one species not previously reported from Poland (Pluteus pseudoinsidiosus), eight protected species, 71 included on the Red List and 13 others considered nationally rare. Additionally, 20 indicator species of natural forests were identified. Sixty-six species had not been previously recorded in ONP.
Despite their significantly smaller area, strict protection zones contained numbers of valuable species comparable to those of active and landscape protection zones, and these fungi were recorded at a higher number of sites. Among the NATURA 2000 habitats, fertile beech forests (habitat no. 9130) and mixed deciduous forests (9170) were the richest in both species and sites of rare and valuable fungi. Fungal habitats in ONP are not currently under severe pressure; however, attention should be paid to valuable sites located along tourist trails and in areas such as landslides. Given the high mycological potential of this area, monitoring of fungi and intensification of research on the ONP mycobiota are recommended.
