Description

Patapius spinosus (Rossi, 1790)

Leptopus echinops Dufour: Puton (1881: 128), “Ramleh”.

Patapius spinosus (Rossi): Lindberg (1922: 18), “ Libanon, 1000 m.”, “ Beirut, auf den Flugsandhügeln”; Lindskog (1995: 139), “ Lebanon ”, probable quotation of Lindberg (1922); Matocq & Azar (2023: 3), generic quotation of Aukema (2024).

General distribution. This is a Centralasiatic-Mediterranean species, introduced into USA, Chile, and Japan (Lindskog 1995, Aukema et al. 2013, Yamazaki & Sugiura 2014, Vinokurov & Kment 2015).

Remarks. Unmistakable species of which no particular identification problems are suspected.
