Description
Poaching under the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 is defined as the illegal hunting, capturing, killing or trapping of wild animals protected under the Act. It is a punishable offence and considered a serious wildlife crime. Poaching is estimated to run into billions of dollars and thus this Wildlife crime is a big business which is done by dangerous international networks, wildlife and animal parts are trafficked much like illegal drugs. Poaching is a threat to the balance of the ecosystem as well as survival of the human being.
