D4.1: Findings on game quality assessment - Dataset

D4.1 Findings on game quality assessment is an analysis of results from a series of subjective test studies ascertaining multi-dimensional quality criteria for games as both educational and entertainment tools. The deliverable reflects three rounds of user-based evaluations designed to assess the perceived quality, user experience, and user satisfaction of the games studied within the project. The evaluations followed an iterative process, beginning with a small-scale methodological pilot using a third-party game, progressing to alpha-version trials of Those from Below, Gulag Diaries, and We Grew Up in War, and culminating in a large-scale assessment of the beta version of one of the games, Those from Below. 

The work applied and refined the multi-dimensional quality assessment framework developed in T1.2, combining quantitative tools (the Game Experience Questionnaire [GEQ] and the Game User Experience Satisfaction Scale [GUESS]) with structured observation, semi-structured interviews, and custom perceived empathy and learning measures. The goal of these efforts was to ensure the final study assessed Those from Below not only for general satisfaction but for its capacity to engage players, provoke reflection, and support empathy and informal learning. 

The datasets reflect the results of these activities and informed the study, which demonstrates the role of evidence-based testing in informing and improving serious games in the cultural heritage domain and offers a transferable methodology for assessing the quality and impact of serious games.
