Family Communication and Satisfaction among Female Dental Surgeons

Abstract
Background: For equity in professional and personal life proper family communication is important. Specially for working female individuals, who get the responsibility to balance home and work life. Female dental surgeons sometimes experience hardships in maintaining professional and family expectations. Communication and satisfaction among family is necessary for the physical and mental health of female dental surgeons. Objectives: This study designed to determine the scale of family communication and the family satisfaction among female dental surgeons.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was held on 160 female dental surgeons performing in academic, clinical, and private practice set-up or not providing any professional service at present or achieved BDS degree at least 2 years ago. Data were accumulated implying an organized, self-governed questionnaire constituted demographic details, Family Communication Scale (FCS), and Family Satisfaction Scale (FSS). Data were scrutinized in descriptive and inferential statistics. Ethical authorization and
informed consent were acquired.

Results: Most responders, 79 amid 160 delineated excellent levels of family communication; whilst 09 went through strain in family inter-communication. Mean (± SD) of family communication was 38.63(±6.365) and family satisfaction was 35.01(± 7.249) successively exhibited (r=.667, p=.000) among female dental professionals. The upshot also advocated that family structure like family type is significantly (p= .001) associated with family satisfaction.

Conclusion: Culmination of the study highlighted good family communication uphold importance for better integrity of professional life. Combining psychological compassion and kinship care may add to overcoming stress management, communication obstacles and upleveling total welfare.
