Description

Speed limits compliance depends on a number of factors, in particular road design, but also drivers' attitudes and social tolerance of risky behaviour. The paper presents the data collected in the ESRA3 international survey on behaviour and attitudes of road users related to speeding; the findings are compared with the measurement of RSI. The results of the survey as well as the results of the observation confirm that the level of speeding is significant and within Europe the CR is one of the countries with an above-average incidence of this risky behaviour, which is moreover tolerated by most road users (except speeding in built-up areas). More than two thirds of Czech drivers do not expect police check on their journey. Support for measures is extremely low. Introduction of 30 km/h in built-up areas has the lowest support among all ESRA3 participants; support for the 80 km/h limit on rural roads is the third lowest among European countries
