CSE-01 | The Cognitive Split Era - Why AI Triggers a New Cognitive Species Divergence

Abstract

The Cognitive Split Era argues that AI has triggered a civilizational-scale discontinuity: the first cognitive speciation event in human history. As intelligent systems exceed human cognitive bandwidth across reasoning, generative synthesis, and strategic coordination, “intelligence” ceases to be a biological monopoly.

Drawing on Capability System Science (CSS 1.0), SEI, and CArchE, this paper proposes that the central question of the intelligent era is not technological adoption but entry into a new cognitive architecture. Human value will be determined by the ability to modularize cognition, integrate AI-system loops, and design decision architectures.

This work establishes the theoretical foundations of the Cognitive Split Era Series (CSE Series) and positions the “Cognitive Split” as the defining structural transformation of 21st-century society—reshaping identity, power, education, and organizational forms.
