THE AESTHETICS OF GERMAN ROMANTICISM AND RUSSIAN PROSE OF THE FIRST THIRD OF THE 19TH CENTURY
Authors/Creators
Description
Abstract
German Romanticism, which largely served as a model for the artistic work of Russian authors of that era, utilized the principle of fragmentation, which allowed for the examination of a single object or phenomenon from multiple perspectives and recognized the ambiguity of its evaluation, contained in the final conclusions and inferences.
However, even with this approach, direct borrowing did not occur, as the specificity of national culture in general, and literature in particular, lies in the fact that it always has its own folk sources and centuries-old traditions. When turning to a foreign source, the recipient primarily perceives what is familiar to them in that culture and in the literary text. The choice of motifs, material, or ideas is determined by the processes occurring in the literary movement that perceives a text from a different national culture and mentality.
