Artemisa: La Vigilia del Límite Sagrado – El santuario lunar de Artemisa

Description

Abstract (English)

This preprint presents an iconographic and archetypal essay on the digital oil-style painting Artemis: The Vigil of the Sacred Boundary – The Lunar Sanctuary of Artemis. The artwork is set in the “after” of the Actaeon myth: the punishment has already taken place and Artemis appears as a living frontier between the realm of death and the spring where two nymphs, under her protection, begin to reclaim their violated bodily intimacy. The paper develops a mythological reading (Artemis, Actaeon, Callisto, Chang’e), a Jungian perspective on trauma and consent, an ecopsychological interpretation in which animals and landscape act as psychic agents, and an archaeological-anthropological analysis of spring sanctuaries, votive offerings and sacred boundary stones.

The sky —with the Moon encircled by orbital lines, Mars and the constellations of Orion and Ursa Major— links the scene to NASA’s Artemis program and to current debates on diversity and the “decolonization of the sky”, proposing the painting as a visual treatise on the sacred limit in the age of space exploration. This Zenodo record hosts the full PDF preprint and provides a citable reference for future work in art history, depth psychology, ecopsychology and space humanities.
