Abstract (Description)

Consciousness emerges as a thermodynamic process grounded in the E³ Framework, where Energy (E), Environment (Env), and Entropy (S) interact to maintain stability in open systems. This paper demonstrates that awareness—across atoms, molecules, cells, organisms, and planetary systems—follows the same universal rule: detect drift, correct drift, and return toward the stability apex (Ψ). Using the Stability(E) curve as the foundational geometry, the paper defines proto‑awareness in atoms, mechanical awareness in enzymes, homeostatic awareness in cells, behavioral awareness in organisms, and recursive self‑modeling in humans. A three‑test biospheric analysis conducted with Gemini demonstrates that Earth's biosphere also detects and corrects energetic perturbations, satisfying the criteria for planetary‑scale consciousness. The paper resolves classical cognitive paradoxes—including the Hard Problem, Binding Problem, and Free Will paradox—by reframing each as drift‑correction dynamics within thermodynamic constraints. Consciousness is revealed to be not an exception to physics, but physics regulating itself.
