MEDIA EDUCATION IN INTERNATIONAL JOURNALISM
Description
This research aims to analyze the implementation of media literacy in
international journalistic outlets. The concept, formalized in the United States in the
1960s, seeks to develop critical thinking regarding the consumption of news content.
It emerged in response to political manipulation through media and, more recently,
the spread of fake news. According to CNN Brazil, four in ten Brazilians consume fake
news daily, and 43% admit to having shared false content. Thus, media literacy is
essential in both national and international journalism, promoting awareness of
misleading information and reinforcing ethical and professional standards.
