Bez paniki – to tylko pająki. Rzecz o masowej migracji osnuwikowatych (Araneae: Linyphiidae) wiosną
Description
In spring 2024, a mass occurrence of Oedothorax apicatus (Linyphiidae) was observed in Lower Silesia, Poland, with extensive silk accumulations, which caused public concern. Field data confirmed the almost total dominance of adult females of this species, as well as the presence of a few specimens from the accompanying species. The phenomenon was previously reported from Europe for several species and it is linked to dispersal both by ballooning and on the ground using the draglines. Spring dispersal to new habitats is crucial for the linyphiid spiders and the mass occurrences should be observed and documented, but not feared.
