IMPROVING STUDENTS' ORAL SPEAKING SKILLS THROUGH THE COMMUNICATIVE APPROACH

  • 1. School-Gymnasium №4 named after Zhambyl Zhabaev

Description

The development of authentic and effective oral speaking skills remains a primary pedagogical challenge and objective in second and foreign language education. This article presents a comprehensive theoretical review and a practical framework demonstrating the efficacy of the Communicative Approach (CA) in transcending the traditional dichotomy between linguistic knowledge (accuracy) and practical usage (fluency). Drawing upon extensive literature, this analysis establishes that CA—characterized by student-centered tasks, collaborative learning, and culturally responsive content—is the optimal methodology for cultivating the functional competence required for real-world interaction. Furthermore, the paper discusses how methods like Project-Based Learning (PBL) and an emphasis on intercultural communication act as powerful accelerators for oral proficiency, transforming the classroom into an authentic environment for linguistic practice. The findings underscore a pedagogical imperative to prioritize meaning over form in instruction to foster genuinely confident and competent speakers.
