Cucho: voz y estiercol en los confines geontológicos de la ciudad letrada
Description
Narrative bibliometrics:
Experimental ethnography focused on the aural stories of cucho (manure) in Asturias. The chapter treats manure as a heuristic figure through which to critically engage with an anthropology of the senses in the post-Francoist public sphere. The text derives directly from the fieldwork conducted for my doctoral dissertation and is situated within a sustained line of research on sonic practices, ethnographic archives, and the public sphere, in dialogue with the ontological turn in anthropology and with the environmental humanities.
The chapter was not subjected to a formal double-blind peer-review process; however, it underwent academic discussion and internal review within a working group linked to the Society for the Analysis of Cultural Topics and Linguistic Identities N’Asturies (2022) and within the Interdoctoral University Consortium at New York University (2023), contributing to the robustness of its theoretical and methodological framework. The publisher, Bartlebooth, is not indexed in the SPI, but enjoys recognised prestige in the Spanish context due to its long-standing engagement with edited volumes and translations of internationally relevant contemporary thought. The volume in which the chapter appears consists largely of translations of works by internationally renowned scholars, such as Michael Marder and Marisol de la Cadena, leading figures in vegetal philosophy and the ontological turn in anthropology, alongside contributions by well-established scholars working in anthropology, mediation, and the environmental humanities in Spain.
