Vom processual shift zum complexity shift: aktuelle analytische Trends der Grenzforschung
Description
Die Auffassung, dass Grenzen aus sozialer Praxis hervorgehen und soziale Praxis hervorbringen, hat in den letzten Jahrzehnten für eine Reihe an Ansätzen und Begriffen gesorgt. Der Beitrag versucht diese zu systematisieren und stellt einen processual shift, multiplicity shift und complexitiy shift vor. Diese Trends beschreiben verschiedene analytische Schwerpunktsetzungen und eine zunehmend differenziertere Beschäftigung mit Grenzen. Abschließend wird auf die noch unzureichend bestimmte Kategorie der sozialen Praxis und auf das Potential der Praxistheorien für die Grenzforschung eingegangen.
Abstract
The understanding that borders emerge from social practices and, in turn, produce social practices has given rise to a range of approaches and concepts over the past decades. This paper seeks to systematize them and presents a processual shift, a multiplicity shift, and a complexity shift. These trends describe different analytical focal points and an increasingly differentiated engagement with borders. The paper concludes by addressing the still insufficiently defined category of social practice and the potential that practice theories hold for border studies.
