Priority Statement on the Magnetic Contribution to the Faraday Effect

Authors/Creators

Description

This document establishes priority for the theoretical prediction that the magnetic field of light contributes significantly to the Faraday effect. In September 2025, the author published The Next Electromagnetic Revolution: Maxwell’s Equations in the Framework of Quarkbase Cosmology, where the electromagnetic field is reinterpreted as pressure (E) and vorticity (B) in a frictionless etheric medium.

The theory explicitly predicts that:

  • the magnetic field is a real vorticity mode of the medium;
  • electromagnetic waves are coupled pressure–vorticity oscillations;
  • interactions sensitive to vorticity must show measurable magnetic torque;
  • the magnetic contribution increases at longer wavelengths.

A recent Scientific Reports article (November 2025) reports experimental evidence showing that the magnetic component contributes between 17% and 75% of Faraday rotation depending on wavelength, matching the behaviour predicted in the September 2025 publication. This Priority Statement documents that the prediction was made publicly and timestamped prior to the experimental confirmation.
