Code and materials for: Beyond species means - the intraspecific contribution to global wood density variation

Code and materials for data analysis supporting the conclusions in the article: Fischer et al. 2025. Beyond species means - the intraspecific contribution to global wood density variation. [Accepted in New Phytologist on 2 December 2025]. Note: For the authoritative and most up to date version of the GWDD v.2, please refer to Zenodo repository 10.5281/zenodo.16919510.

This repository contains 6 subfolders:

• data.zip contains the data necessary to carry out the analysis, including the GWDD v.1 and v.2
• data_derived.zip contains derived layers from taxonomic name resolution
• figures.zip contains the figures included in the main text and Supplementary Materials of Fischer et al. 2025.
• fits.zip contains model fits carried out with the brms and lme4 packages
• products.zip contains a wide range of subsets and aggregation types of the GWDD v.2, as well as intermediate data products created during analysis 
• rscripts.zip contains the main analysis script _gwdd02.analysis.R which can be carried out without loading other scripts; scripts for model fitting are also included, but have to be run separately
