La conoscenza scientifica è un bene comune e deve essere quindi patrimonio di tutti. Le istituzioni pubbliche dovrebbero mettere a disposizione della società i risultati della propria ricerca, come restituzione dei finanziamenti ricevuti.
Per realizzare questo mandato, MilanoUP offre ai ricercatori Unimi la possibilità di pubblicare senza costi per gli autori e per i lettori (Diamond OA).
Oltre ai servizi di validazione tra pari, editing e pubblicazione, sono previsti anche servizi aggiuntivi, quali:
Tempistiche urgenti: per i ricercatori con scadenza stringenti, c’è la possibilità di archiviare il post-print nello spazio MUP su Zenodo.
Indicizzazione: i libri vengono indicizzati in DOAB con il seal di PRISM (sul tipo di peer review adottata)
Archiviazione dati: se il volume ha dei dati collegati, c’è la possibilità di archiviarli nel dataverse di Unimi.
Manuali: una linea editoriale è dedicata ai libri didattici online, con print on demand a prezzi contenuti (risparmio per gli studenti).
Finanziamento di infrastrutture pubbliche: MilanoUP adotta il modello diamond OA per gli autori interni e per le riviste con un ricercatore dell’ateneo nel board, mentre agli esterni viene chiesto un contributo, che viene impiegato nel sostegno a infrastrutture pubbliche (per il 2025 PCI, Philpapers, OpenAIRE, OApen)
Abstract (English)
Scientific research: a public good
Scientific knowledge is a common good and should therefore be part of everyone’s shared heritage. Public institutions ought to make the results of their research available to society as a way of giving back for the funding they receive.
To fulfil this mission, MilanoUP offers Unimi researchers the opportunity to publish at no cost to authors or readers (Diamond OA). In addition to peer-review, editing, and publication services, several additional services are also provided, such as:
Urgent timelines: for researchers with tight deadlines, it is possible to deposit the post-print in the MUP space on Zenodo.
Indexing: books are indexed in DOAB with the PRISM seal (indicating the type of peer review adopted).
Data archiving: if the volume has associated data, these can be archived in the Unimi dataverse.
Textbooks: an editorial line is dedicated to online teaching materials, with print-on-demand at affordable prices (saving costs for students).
Funding public infrastructures: MilanoUP adopts the Diamond OA model for internal authors and for journals with a university researcher on the board, while external authors are asked for a contribution that is used to support public infrastructures (for 2025: PCI, PhilPapers, OpenAIRE, OApen).
