Più supporto, più FAIRness: il ruolo cruciale dei servizi nella gestione dei dati aperti.
Authors/Creators
Description
This poster presents the development and impact of the Research Data Management (RDM) support services implemented at the University of Milan since 2017. The analysis illustrates how structured training, front-office assistance, and data curation have significantly increased both the quantity and quality of research datasets deposited on the institutional repository Data@UniMi.
Drawing on internal repository metrics and FAIRness assessments, the poster shows that Dataverse curated by the University of Milan (Data@UniMi) has surpassed Zenodo as the preferred platform for UniMi researchers since 2022. This shift is linked not merely to the availability of the repository, but to the growth of an integrated support ecosystem, including monthly RDM trainings, DMP assistance, and dedicated data stewards.
The poster also documents the institutional milestones—from the adoption of a university-wide RDM policy to the achievement of the CoreTrustSeal certification in 2024—that have contributed to building a robust and sustainable Open Science infrastructure. The workflow adopted by the data stewards, including FAIR review prior to publication, is presented as a replicable model for institutions aiming to strengthen responsible data management and promote FAIR practices.
