Bee (Hymenoptera) Bycatch Assemblages Collected in Bowl Traps at Interfaces of Cotton Agroecosystems in Alabama
Authors/Creators
Description
This dataset contains records of Hymenopteran species (primarily bees) captured as unintended bycatch in colored pan traps originally deployed to monitor cotton aphid (Aphis gossypii) dispersal activity in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) fields across Alabama during the peak cotton blooming period in 2021 and 2022. Although the traps were not designed for pollinator sampling, the bycatch provided valuable insights into native bee diversity and abundance associated with cotton agroecosystems.
The dataset includes sampling metadata (county, year, number of collection sites, and total abundance), overall richness, and species-specific abundance counts of bee species across four Hymenopteran families.
