Potentialism Manifesto – First Edition (Draft v0.1)
Creators
Description
Potentialism is a theoretical and practical framework that replaces the idea of intrinsically good or bad traits with the notion of neutral potentials whose value emerges only in relation to context, intention, goals, and awareness. It proposes that features such as anger, fear, sexuality, ambition, empathy or intelligence are not moral essences but energies that can be expressed in compatible, incompatible or neutral ways depending on how they are regulated. Built on an eight-pillar architecture, Potentialism links layered models of behavior (from raw biological processes to expanded awareness) with trainable skills of will, ethics and contextual responsibility, and grounds moral limits in the dignity of awareness rather than in fixed lists of virtues and vices. The manifesto sketches a bridge between biology, psychology, moral philosophy and the design of intelligent systems, and invites critique and collaboration toward a more flexible, awareness-centered ethics for humans, animals and advanced AI.
This is the initial draft (v0.1) of the Potentialism Manifesto and is intentionally published as incomplete and open to critique and further development.
