Description
This document is an independent, youth-led summary of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Climate Change 2023: Synthesis Report – Summary for Policymakers. It was developed by members of The Keeling Society, an international network of early-career researchers, emerging policy thinkers, and science communicators working to make climate science more accessible to young people and early-career professionals.
The report distils the key findings of the AR6 SPM into clear, concise, and approachable language while preserving the structure, terminology, and confidence levels used in the original. It aims to close an existing knowledge gap: although IPCC reports underpin global climate policy, they remain inaccessible to many youth audiences due to their length, complexity, and technical framing. With plain-language summaries removed from the approved outline of IPCC AR7 Working Group I, this initiative reflects a growing need for independent, accurate youth-oriented materials.
This summary was produced entirely pro bono and without any institutional affiliation, endorsement, or collaboration from the IPCC, its Working Groups, or Technical Support Units. All scientific content is derived exclusively from the publicly available AR6 Synthesis Report materials. The Keeling Society provides this resource to support climate literacy, informed public engagement, and wider participation of young people in evidence-based climate discussions.
