Deliverable 6.5 Legal Framework Strategy Report (2024)

The purpose of the Legal Framework Strategy report (2024) is to provide an overview of all applicable EU-27 technical and environmental legislation and standards that could influence or affect the DIAGONAL project, and updates the items previously covered in D6.3 “Legal Framework Strategy report (2023)”. Any technology and or substance developed by DIAGONAL must be safe and legal to be made available and / or placed on the market. The intention is to give an overview of the current legal requirements for the use of nanomaterials (NMs) and identify current and possible future areas of development that could potentially impact the further development of the project.
This report provides an assessment of the legal obligations that apply to the technology used and/or under development in the DIAGONAL project. There are a number of legislative impacts that needed to be considered during the course of the DIAGONAL project. Given the developing nature of the nanotechnology field, it was expected that further requirements would arise during the course of the DIAGONAL project, which have been captured by this final update of this report.
