THE IMPACT OF THE WAR IN UKRAINE ON GLOBAL GEOECONOMIC EQUILIBRIUM

Description

The full-scale war waged by Russia against Ukraine has become a catalyst for a profound restructuring of the global geoeconomic system. It has revealed the vulnerability of the world economy to political and military shocks, accelerated the fragmentation of international value chains, and reshaped the structure of global energy flows. The article analyzes the transformation of global equilibrium among the leading geoeconomic centers the United States, the European Union, China, and the countries of the Global South as a result of the war in Ukraine.

Particular attention is given to the role of sanctions policy, the reorientation of energy markets, and the reconfiguration of trade routes and financial flows. It is argued that the war has triggered the emergence of a new multipolar configuration of economic interaction, in which security and technological factors are gaining increasing importance. The study identifies the impact of the conflict on the economic resilience of the EU, China’s geoeconomic expansion, and the growing role of military-industrial complexes and the digital economy in shaping global power structures. The conclusion emphasizes that the war in Ukraine has become not only a regional tragedy but also a point of no return for the global economic order, ushering in an era of the “security economy,” where political decisions increasingly determine economic development trajectories.
