Agile Change Using Project Management and Artificial Intelligence: An Expert Perspective

Organisations need to manage change effectively, in the current turbulent environment. This necessitates the employment of project management and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being used to support these techniques. The paper considers this area, emphasising the potential use of AI to assist project management as a mechanism for delivering change. The latter enhances the facility for agile change in accordance with the requirements of rapid variations in the environment.

A change model is proposed, to inform the implementation of organisational change via project management techniques. The key phases of preparation, personnel management, motivation, monitoring and outcomes are considered. The application of AI to assist these areas is also discussed.

This research comprises an empirical study using qualitative methods. A review of the literature is enacted, focusing on selected articles from the main publications. Several semi-structured interviews were conducted with experienced practitioners, who are subject matter experts in the topics of project management and artificial intelligence. A thematic analysis of the research data was used to extract the principal recommended activities for organisations. A change management model incorporating AI was then formulated, thus summarising the recommendations for organisations, in respect of this research.
