CT-UNIX: A Constant-Based Operating Environment and the Causal Unification of Work and Play

Description

This work defines CT-UNIX, the first operating environment whose primitives are the five causal constants {π, √2, √3, φ, ln 5}. Instead of relying on ad hoc abstractions such as processes, syscalls, threads, permissions, or mutable global state, CT-UNIX represents the entire system as an explicit causal ledger. Every entity is a π-agent, every connection is a √2-relation, every control dependency is a √3-topology, every state transition is a φ-event, and every irreversible operation is mediated by ln 5-dissipation.

On top of the constant-based kernel, CT-UNIX introduces CTL (Causal Theory Language), a high-level, strictly causal programming environment where agents, relations, invariants, events, schedules, and ledger entries are the only valid system operations. CT-UNIX enforces global invariants from Causal Theory (CT), guaranteeing coherence of identity, relational symmetry, control topology, transition flow, and dissipation.

The second contribution of the paper is the formal Work-Play Equivalence Proposition: in a causal-ledger-based system, work and play are not analogous—they are the same event type viewed through different interfaces. CT-UNIX provides the architecture by which game actions directly correspond to real tasks, with invariants ensuring safety, auditability, and alignment with external systems. Quests become task bundles, rewards become real resource allocations, and audit events mediate the application of real-world effects.

This document presents the full operating model: identity management, relational typing, control graphs, scheduling, dissipation rules, CTL semantics, storage and networking abstractions, system invariants, and the complete causal unification of work and play. It establishes CT-UNIX as a rigorous, constant-based OS capable of hosting coherent agents, tasks, and real-world causal actions.
