Music Fandoms on YouTube: Sample Analyses Using the "YouTube Comment Miner" (YTCM)

This combines three presentations to demonstrate the "YouTube Comment Miner" (YTCM) software. The presentations cover Japanese and Korean popular digital culture and try to explore YTCM's capabilities of exploring fandom cultures and digital platforms in various ways:

• The presentation on music in "Studio Ghibli" movies is solely concerned with YTCM data, trying to give an overview about possibilities for statistical analyses using YouTube metrics and metadata.
• The presentation on the K-pop band "ETERNITII" combines statistical analysis with audio-visual analysis which is planned to be integrated into YTCM at a later stage.
• The presentation on music in the "The Legend of Zelda" game series blends fandom analysis with historical and cultural readings of game music.

YTCM has been developed at the University of Music and Theatre, Leipzig.
