Sustainable urban development

Sustainable urban development is important to build livable, resilient, and thriving cities for present and future generations. Cities can address some of the pressing challenges facing the world today, such as climate change, rapid urbanization, public health issues, and resource constraints, by incorporating environmentally friendly practices, social equity considerations, 
and economic viability. This paper examines the fundamental imperatives of sustainable urban development, key principles and strategies of implementation, showcases successful case studies, identifies challenges and barriers, examines the role of technology, discusses collaborative stakeholder engagement approaches, and gives some policy recommendations that may foster sustainable growth and prosperity of urban areas.
