Description

Introduction. The concept of sustainable development determines the importance of legal support for all spheres of the
economy, education and public life. The continuity of professional legal education in the system of additional professional
education is a mechanism for improving the professionalism of lawyers. The factor in the formation of readiness for
continuous professional and legal education in the system of continuing professional education is diversification,
determined by socio-economic, methodological and educational characteristics.
The aim of the article is to study the potential of professional education of lawyers, which determines the level of their
readiness for continuing professional and legal education, in the interests of sustainable development of society using
case-study, STEAM design and the essay method.
Materials and methods. The pilot study enrolled 286 students of additional professional programs implemented on
the basis of the Center for Continuing Professional Education and Advanced Training of the Orуl State University
named after I. S. Turgenev (experimental group – 68 people and control group – 118 people). Methods of mathematical
statistics (Pearson's criterion).
Results of the study. It is revealed that the use of case-study, STEAM design and the essay method in continuing
professional and legal education (in the inertial and saccadic senses of manifestation) determines the diversification
of professional and legal education in the system of additional professional education in 3, 5 and 10 years after the
development of educational programs, аccording to all the criteria identified, a qualitative increase in indicators was
revealed in the experimental group (for example, the number of professional-level respondents increased from 19%
to 39% according to the cognitive-value criterion, and from 2% to 17% according to the activity-practical criterion), a
statistical analysis based on the critical points of the Pearson distribution (χ 2 ) allows us to determine the difference
between the general populations of the control and experimental groups (χ 2 =5.99 at the significance level 0,05 = 5,99:
5,99<8,0, 5,99<19,5, 5,99<18,4, 5,99<6,3) when comparing the dynamics data according to four criteria a
Conclusion. An integrative criterion for the formation of a lawyer's readiness for continuous professional and legal
education is the creative ability to professionally improve in professional legal education to diversify the meanings of
professional activity for the purpose of sustainable development of society, economy and state.
