COMFORT AT THE EXTREMES. INVESTING IN WELL-BEING IN A CHALLENGING FUTURE

Description

This book is the result of collaborative work carried out within the framework of the
international network Comfort at the Extremes (CATE), which since its inception has fostered
the rigorous exchange of knowledge on environmental comfort, sustainability, and climate
change adaptation in extreme contexts. The editors wish to express their deep appreciation
to all the researchers who, from diverse disciplines and regions around the world, have
contributed to this collective work through their reflections, case studies, and innovative
proposals.
Special thanks are extended to the University of Seville for its institutional support, and in
particular to Prof. Pilar Mercader Moyano, Director of the University Institute of Architecture
and Construction Sciences; Prof. Ramón Pico Valimaña, Director of the Higher Technical
School of Architecture; and Prof. Rosario Chaza Chimeno, Director of the Higher Technical
School of Building Engineering, for their commitment and support in the development of this
editorial initiative.
The editorial team also wishes to acknowledge the support of Ms. Juana María Leal del Ojo
Chamorro, General Coordinator for European Funds, Urban Agenda, Sustainability, and
Strategic Plans at the City Council of Seville, as well as Ms. Susana Cayuelas Porras,
Director of the Andalusian Housing and Rehabilitation Agency (AVRA), whose institutional
involvement enabled the alignment of this scientific initiative with local and regional strategies
on sustainability and innovation.
This book stands as a testament to the value of networked collaboration and to the capacity
of the international scientific community to address, through shared knowledge, the
environmental and social challenges of our time. To all individuals and institutions who made
