NOWE STANOWISKA OBCĄŻNICY NADBRZEŻNEJ LABIDURA RIPARIA (PALLAS, 1773) (DERMAPTERA: LABIDURIDAE) W POLSCE

The authors present new records of Labidura riparia from various regions of Poland. The species is the only representative of the family Labiduridae in the country and is considered a thermophilous, cosmopolitan species typically associated with sandy habitats, riverbanks, inland and coastal dunes, reclaimed industrial sites, and gravel pits. The newly documented localities expand the known distribution of the species and include both natural and anthropogenic environments, such as urban gardens and post-industrial landscapes. These findings challenge previous assumptions about the species’ strict dependence on moist habitats, as several individuals were observed in relatively dry conditions, including areas with no direct access to groundwater or running water. This suggests a broader ecological tolerance and highlights the need for further field research to better understand its habitat preferences.
