Interactive Privacy Glass with Gesture-Driven Electrical Modulation Mechanism
Authors/Creators
Description
The present invention provides an electrically tunable privacy glass system equipped with a gesture-based control interface, allowing users to modulate the transparency of glass panels through contactless hand gestures. The system includes an electrically responsive transparent panel, such as an electrochromic or polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) panel, a gesture detection module, a control unit, and a power supply. The gesture detection module employs sensors including infrared, ultrasonic, or vision-based components to sense user gestures performed near the glass. Signals from the gesture module are processed by the control unit, which translates gestures into corresponding transparency commands and adjusts the electrical input to the tunable layer for real-time modulation of opacity. Supported gestures include swiping to incrementally increase or decrease transparency and waving to switch between fully transparent and opaque states. By eliminating reliance on physical switches, remote controls, or mobile applications, the system provides a hygienic, intuitive, and energy-efficient solution for privacy management in architectural, automotive, and medical applications. Optional wireless interfaces enable integration with smart building and automation platforms, delivering a fast-response, touchless, and user-friendly interface for dynamic privacy control.
