Description

This editorial discusses the exploration of traditional rattan weaving as a culturally rooted therapeutic approach to reducing stress and enhancing emotional well-being within communities. Deeply embedded in Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, the practice of rattan weaving offers a meditative and tactile experience that fosters mindfulness, builds resilience, and supports psychosocial recovery. By engaging the senses and encouraging creative expression, this art form serves as an affordable, accessible, and sustainable intervention aligning with global calls for culturally responsive mental health strategies. Grounded in empirical findings and community-based initiatives, this letter advocates for the formal integration of rattan weaving into mental health and wellness programs, particularly for marginalized and high-risk populations.
