WAYS OF USING GAME TECHNOLOGIES IN TEACHING ENGLISH

Description

In the context of globalization and digital transformation, modern education demands innovative teaching approaches that foster engagement and motivation. This paper explores the use of game technologies as an effective pedagogical tool in teaching English. It highlights how game-based learning enhances students’ linguistic competence, creativity, and communicative skills through active participation and meaningful interaction. Various types of games — lexical, grammar, and communicative — are analyzed in terms of their educational value and methodological implementation. The study emphasizes that games not only make language learning enjoyable but also reduce anxiety, stimulate critical thinking, and improve long-term memory retention. Moreover, the integration of digital platforms such as Kahoot, Quizizz, Wordwall, and Bamboozle enables teachers to create interactive and competitive learning environments. The article concludes that the systematic use of game technologies contributes to learner autonomy, collaboration, and effective language acquisition, making them an indispensable component of modern English language teaching.
