Transfer and Collaborative Knowledge Generation: Foundations of Transfer and Collaboration
Description
The presentation Transfer and Collaborative Knowledge Generation: Foundations of Transfer and Collaboration introduces conceptual and practical foundations for understanding transfer as a multidimensional process that links research, application, and societal engagement. Moving beyond a narrow view of transfer as intellectual property management or dissemination of academic results, the video conceptualises transfer as a collaborative and iterative form of knowledge co-production. By tracing the evolution from linear to bidirectional and helix models of innovation, it highlights the growing interdependence of academia, industry, politics, and society in shaping sustainable innovation ecosystems and contributing to socio-technical transformations. Drawing on theories of Modes 1, 2, and 3 of knowledge production, the video elaborates on how co-creation, co-evolution, co-specialisation, and co-opetition form the backbone of contemporary transfer practices. Ultimately, it argues that collaborative transfer is not only desirable but also contingent on structural and cultural prerequisites thereby showing that, when these are met, transfer becomes more than the sum of its parts.
