STREAM-Support Tool for Reuse Evaluation and Management

STREAM is an open-access decision support tool (DST) developed to support preliminary assessments of the feasibility of reusing effluent from wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). It analyzes how the diversion of treated wastewater influences the receiving water body by considering hydrological balance, physical-chemical composition, and agricultural impacts.

Using internal computations based on user-provided data, STREAM estimates the potential effects of effluent reuse on river ecological status but also the associated savings in fertilizers for agriculture.

The tool has been applied in three case studies in Luxembourg, covering a range of WWTP capacities and river conditions, which demonstrate its versatility and practical relevance for water reuse planning.

Note: STREAM is a macro-enabled Excel tool (.xlsm), and Excel may block macros for security reasons.
To ensure the tool runs correctly:

1. Right-click the downloaded file and select Properties.

2. In the General tab, check the box labeled Unblock, then click Apply.

3. Open the file in Excel and select Enable Content
