The Principle of No A Priori Objects: The Metaphysical Generation of Cognitive Delineation

Description

Abstract: This paper proposes the "Principle of No A Priori Objects," which aims to reinterpret the relationship between "objects" and "cognition" from a metaphysical perspective. Traditional metaphysics commonly assumes that the existence of objects precedes cognition, and the task of cognition is to discover, identify, or represent pre-existing entities. This paper refutes this assumption, arguing that all objects are generated in the act of cognitive delineation. Cognition is not a mechanism for discovering the existence of objects, but rather a mechanism for generating objects and making them manifest. All "objecthood" and "identity" do not exist a priori, independent of cognition. Objects are temporary manifestations of stable phenomena generated through cognitive delineation and anchoring in the flow of existence. This paper establishes a three-tier ontological structure: flow of existence (first-order) — cognition (second-order) — objects (third-order), and argues that the three laws of logic (the Law of Identity, the Law of Contradiction, and the Law of the Excluded Middle) are in fact the inevitable morphological representations of cognitive delineation, thus reconstructing the metaphysical foundations of logic and truth. In this framework, identity and vagueness are unified: identity is not an inherent property of objects, but a phenomenon of cognition’s successful delineation and continuous anchoring; vagueness is not a defect in language or facts, but a representation of the absence of a priori objective standards for an object’s identity, with cognition having the sole authority to decide. Based on this, the paper resolves the Ship of Theseus problem and the Paradox of the Heap. Furthermore, a metaphysical analysis of chaos and free will is conducted, demonstrating the bridging role of the "Principle of No A Priori Objects" across philosophy, logic, science, and linguistics.
