This study explores the role of teacher language in enhancing English as a Second Language (ESL) learners’ communicative competence. Effective teacher language, including clarity, tone, questioning techniques, and feedback strategies, plays a crucial role in creating an interactive and supportive classroom environment. By analyzing classroom interactions and teacher discourse, this research highlights how teachers’ linguistic choices influence students’ participation, confidence, and ability to use language in real-life contexts. The findings suggest that carefully structured teacher talk not only facilitates comprehension but also encourages meaningful communication, thereby promoting learners’ overall linguistic and pragmatic development. Implications for ESL teaching practice emphasize the importance of teacher awareness and deliberate use of language to optimize learners’ communicative outcomes.
