Ignition Certifiability for Magnetic Fusion: A Falsifiable, Reproducible, and Certified Ignition Framework from First Principles
Authors/Creators
Description
We present a clean ignition criterion for magnetic confinement fusion.
The core is an inequality:
πΏ ≥ Θ(π, π).
Here πΏ is a dimensionless triple product. π is a normalized ion temperature. π is a
magnetic proximity to stability.
The model is transparent. No hidden parameters. All inputs are measurable. The
outcome is falsifiable and reproducible.
We give two tracks. Primal: certify ignition with conservative upper bounds.
Dual: falsify ignition by proving a positive lower bound gap.
We compare with two representative papers. One is the SPARC overview (high-
field tokamak, predictive route). One is JET D–T runs (59 MJ, empirical route). We
show how our criterion aligns with both, yet stays simpler.
We provide checklists. Pseudocode. A CSV schema. Engineering notes. And a
short philosophical reflection on symmetry and falsifiability.
The goal is practical. A small team can run this. Any device can be placed on the
same map. The decision rule is “If–Then” and auditable.
