Vocabulary acquisition is a cornerstone of English language learning, particularly for young learners and those acquiring English as a second language. This article synthesizes evidence-based strategies from scholarly literature to explore effective methods for teaching new English words. Drawing on systematic reviews, empirical studies, and instructional frameworks, the paper examines approaches such as direct instruction, morphological analysis, interactive activities, and technology integration. The methods section details a literature review of high-impact sources indexed in databases like PubMed Central, Google Scholar, and academic journals. Results highlight the efficacy of multifaceted instruction, including rich language experiences, explicit word teaching, word-learning strategies, and fostering word consciousness, with particular benefits for diverse learners including those with learning disabilities and English language learners. Discussions integrate theoretical underpinnings like schema theory and sociocultural perspectives, emphasizing the need for multiple exposures and active engagement to build flexible vocabulary knowledge. Conclusions underscore the importance of tailored, engaging instruction to bridge vocabulary gaps and enhance overall literacy.
