SOCIOKAIROS Companion Paper: Computational Heuristics for Reflexive Sociology
Description
SOCIOKAIROS is a heuristic computational assistant designed to support the formulation and operationalization of sociological research problems. Unlike traditional CAQDAS systems that focus on empirical data coding, SOCIOKAIROS acts as a reflexive epistemic mediator that guides users through conceptual reasoning—identifying variables, hypotheses, and indicators in a context-sensitive manner.
Developed by Dr. Víctor Hugo Pérez Gallo at the University of Zaragoza, the software integrates theoretical frameworks from the sociology of knowledge (Berger & Luckmann, Bourdieu, Goffman) and critical epistemology (Gramsci, Feenberg), transforming technology into a tool for thought. Experimental implementations in Spain, Cuba, and Brazil have shown its effectiveness in enhancing epistemic reflexivity and scientific reasoning in social research education.
